Gobble Gobble

Its almost turkey day!!! My favorite holiday, being the foodie that I am.
Here is what I am thankful for this year-
1. My health! I don't have insurance, so I am glad to be sick-free!!
2. My family. We sure know how to take care of eachother when times are tough
3. School! I am so lucky to be studying a subject which I love!
4. My housemates. Matt and Heather, you are amazing and I can't think of enough words of gratitude!
5. Italy!!!! I can't wait to be on that plane
6. Henry Cowell. There is no other place in this world to run. I love it!
7. Two-year-olds. You all know who you are, and I am so greatful to love you all and then leave when the day is done, haha.
8. Sharp Knives. I love my knives, and they love me too
9.My friends. I am so lucky to have close friends who truly care about me. I hop they come visit in Italy, cause I will miss them!
10. Soccer on Thursdays. Its so fun, and I am going to miss it next semester! Maybe I will learn a few things in Europe and then show my team up when I get home. hahahahahha.........not likely:)

And most of all, I am thankful for Jesus. I am so blessed in my life, even with the rough and tough, but it is through His love that I persevere. Thanks for all your prayers, they are greatly appreciated!

What are you thankful for??

Its 11:29 and I am still up. hmmm.....

Airplane!

So the time has come. I have actually bought my airplane ticket to Italy, so there is no turning back. I fly out of DC on the 26th of January and I land in Sweden in the early morning of the 27th. I am only there for a few short hours and then back on the plane for a quick 1 hour flight to Italy. Everything is coming together and I am getting excited!

All I want to do now is pack!

71 Full days and counting......

71 more days!! I am so excited and really starting to look forward to this next adventure in my life. Everyday I imagine myself getting out my backpack, loading all my warm winter clothes and jackets, and packing boxes for my dorm room to be shipped to Italy. I am also collecting pictures and other fun stuff for my bulletin board so I can have everyone I love "with me" while I am away!

I received a scholarship from Study Abroad Italy for $1,000! So that's always good, free money. Every paycheck is getting sent straight to school for now, so any prayers for tuition would be greatly appreciated! I am also still waiting to find out about my student loans and financial aid from Cabrillo as well, so its a work in progress. Thanks for all your support!

Apicius!

Dear Ms. Whitaker,

Congratulations, I am pleased to inform you have been accepted to Apicius International School of Hospitality for the Spring 2009 semester.

That's right! International baby!! I am leaving on a jet plane in January, flying to Washington DC to visit my aunt and uncle, and then I am off to Italy for the semester. I applied to a culinary school in the town of Firenze, (Florence) and I will be there studying Italian culture and cuisine until June. I am really excited!

Check out the website if you want, there are awesome photos and information about the programs offered at this school.

- I also want to put out a huge THANK YOU to all of the support I have received through this next journey in my life. I am amazed by the love from my family and friends, and the donations to help me pay for school. I am eternally thankful for all my friends and family and I can't wait to come home and share all my Italian culinary knowledge with you!

Ciao!

R.I.P Scarlett "Stinky"

As I was driving on Glen Arbor around 10am Sunday morning, I was unpleasantly surprised to see our two year old chocolate female lying on the side of the road. She had escaped from the fenced yard at my mothers house and ran up onto the busy street. Here, she met an unhappy fate with a moving vehicle and now she is gone. She was an extremely sweet dog, her disposition put a smile on every ones face. She truly will be missed, but the legacy will carry on as she gave birth to a litter of puppies in late spring, one of which is a part of our family. His name is Chunky and he will miss his mommy dearly. Rest in peace lovely Scarlett, you were a wonderful part or our lives.
